Job summary

City of Bentonville, Arkansas seeks a Water Utilities Technician to assist in operating and maintaining the city’s water storage and distribution system. You will monitor SCADA, regulate water distribution, and ensure compliance with health standards while supporting customers and engineers.

The role requires field inspections, sample collection for bacteriological monitoring, and the ability to work a rotating standby schedule.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
• Possess or has the ability to obtain a Class IV Water Distribution Operator License
• Must possess and maintain a personal telephone for emergency call‑outs
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating procedures
• Ability to climb ladders and stand for long periods

Responsibilities

• Assists in maintaining supervisory control over the City’s water distribution system via the SCADA system.
• Assists in monitoring and regulating the amount of water distributed while maintaining water quality per regulations.
• Operates and maintains water distribution facilities including pump stations and storage facilities.
• Collects water samples for monthly bacteriological monitoring as required by authorities.
• Records data on flows, pressures, residuals, and trends; conducts periodic facility inspections.
• Assists customers, engineers, and developers with water information.
• Follow safety procedures and work alone or in teams; respond to emergencies as needed.
• Maintain safety knowledge and use basic plumbing tools; stand for long periods; work rotating standby schedule.
• This position is a first responder in citywide emergencies; duties may adapt to city needs.
