Job summary

Mead & Hunt is seeking a mid-level Construction Inspector to support SCDOT projects in South Carolina. You will inspect transportation construction, verify materials, and document daily progress while traveling statewide.

Desired candidates hold relevant certifications and a degree or substantial experience, with flexibility for extended hours. The role requires outdoor work, heavy lifting, and independent work; visa sponsorship is not provided, and pre-employment screening applies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field plus four years relevant experience.
• Associate degree in construction management or related field plus six years relevant experience.
• If no degree, at least eight years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide inspection services for transportation construction projects and ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
• Perform required calculations, take measurements, and verify weights/volumes.
• Plot cross sections and prepare as-builts during progress; conduct materials testing.
• Document inspected work daily and travel to construction sites across the state; valid driver’s license required.
• Extended hours and overnight stays may be required.
