Mead & Hunt has an exceptional opportunity for a highly motivated construction inspector for SCDOT projects in South Carolina.

Responsibilities

The Construction Inspector will be responsible for providing inspection services for transportation construction projects. They ensure all work and materials used are in compliance with the proposal, plans, and specifications. They may perform required calculations, take measurements, and verify weights and volumes as needed. They may plot and run cross sections and prepare "as builds" during progress of the project. They may perform materials testing, and they will document inspected work daily.

This position requires heavy lifting, working outside in a variety of conditions on a regular basis, and the ability to perform work independently. Travel to construction sites throughout the state is an essential function of this position, though most projects will be located in Lowcountry/Beaufort County, SC. Extended hours and overnight stays may be required.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field
• -OR- An Associate’s Degree in Construction Management or related field AND two (2) years of relevant experience
• -OR- If no degree, at least four (4) years of relevant experience
• SCDOT Foundations Certification required, or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
• At least one more applicable certification.
• A valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Additional SCDOT certifications and CEPSCI certification preferred
