Job summary

Woodgrain in Elkin, NC is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor for the sawmill. You will oversee safety, quality and productivity, guiding daily activities to meet scheduling and inventory goals.

The role involves developing staff, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring adherence to policies. The ideal candidate has 3+ years in supervision in lumber production, strong manufacturing knowledge, NHLA grading experience, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• 3 years of supervisory or management experience in a lumber production facility.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes.
• NHLA hardwood lumber grading experience.
• Proven project management, planning and organizational skills.
• Experience leading engaged teams and workforce.
• Ability to analyze production data to eliminate waste and foster continuous improvement.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Willing to work swing shift.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety, quality, and morale goals in the Sawmill.
• Assist Production Manager with long- and short-term objectives.
• Drive continuous improvement across the plant.
• Lead daily Tailgate meetings addressing conditions and quality.
• Plan production targets and allocate resources to meet orders on schedule.
• Optimize personnel utilization and cross-training.
• Train and develop hourly staff and address corrective actions.
• Work in a production environment.
• Promote safety and environmental practices.
• Monitor and approve timesheets.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
