Job summary

Woodgrain in Elkin, NC is seeking a experienced Sawmill Production Supervisor to oversee safety, quality and productivity in the sawmill department. You will manage daily activities, coordinate with the Plant Manager on production scheduling, inventory, and performance, and lead continuous improvement efforts.

You will train hourly staff and ensure policies are followed to maintain a safe environment. The role requires strong leadership, manufacturing know-how, and the ability to respond quickly

Qualifications

• Three or more years of supervisory experience in a lumber or sawmill setting.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement.
• Proven ability to plan, schedule, and manage resources for production targets.
• Demonstrated leadership to motivate teams and foster safety and quality.
• Excellent communication and ability to train and develop staff.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safety, quality and productivity of the sawmill department.
• Assist Plant Manager with short- and long-term production plans and goals.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives across the plant.
• Conduct daily Tailgate meetings addressing issues and priorities.
• Plan production targets and allocate resources to meet schedules and specs.
• Cross-train staff and manage performance and training needs.
• Ensure adherence to company policies and safety practices.
• Monitor timesheets and participate in corrective actions when needed.
• Support environmental and safety objectives for a safe work environment.
