Job summary

Big River Forest Products is seeking a Green End (Sawmill) superintendent to lead safety-first operations, supervise supervisors and hourly personnel, and optimize process flow to meet budgets and performance targets.

You will drive productivity, quality, and recovery of lumber while managing resources and implementing continuous improvement programs across the production floor. Strong leadership and CAD/Bluebeam familiarity are valued in this role.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years of verifiable lumber or wood production manufacturing experience.
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Excellent interpersonal skills including conflict management and coaching.
• Strong mechanical and technical knowledge for a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Read and interpret blueprints; Bluebeam knowledge and CAD a plus.
• Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Lean manufacturing/5S experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the highest safety standards and lead by example in policies and procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce costs, and maximize lumber quality, value, and recovery.
• Engage production and maintenance workers to meet targets and address deficiencies constructively.
• Develop and implement programs to ensure product meets standards and take corrective action through Supervisors.
• Analyze quality control information and initiate corrective actions as required.
• Analyze raw materials daily and adjust to meet production budgets.
• Foster a culture of open, respectful communication.
• Hire, train, coach, mentor, and supervise employees.
• Conduct employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competencies and knowledge.
