Job summary

Central Steel & Wire, part of the Ryerson Family of Companies, is seeking a Saw Operator for the 2nd shift (Mon-Fri, 3pm-11:30pm). You will cut materials per drawings, inspect parts, and perform routine maintenance while adhering to safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Skills-based assessment evaluates reading, math, inspection and measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
• Minimum 2 years of similar job experience preferred.
• Basic math skills.
• Basic computer skills and/or comfort using a computer.
• Must pass vision, hearing, and mobility requirements.
• Enrollment in a registered apprenticeship program during onboarding and training.

Responsibilities

As a Saw Operator with Central Steel & Wire, you will be responsible for ensuring accuracy and quality when cutting material in accordance with technical drawings and specifications.

This position is a 2nd shift role. The hours for this position are Monday through Friday from 3pm to 11:30m.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Operating saw equipment to cut materials to specified dimensions with accuracy and precision
• Inspecting cut pieces to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications
• Perform routine maintenance on the saw equipment to ensure optimal performance
• Troubleshoot any issues with equipment to minimize downtime and maintain efficiency
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and others
• Picking and staging feedstock for fulfillment orders
• Breaking down bulk bundles for customer-specific orders
• Packaging of material to customer requirements
• Operating a sit-down or side loader forklift to move material as needed
• Proper completion of paperwork and SAP work order confirmation for shipping/receiving on the computer
• Maximum productivity for finished goods creation

Requirements

• Successfully pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
• Minimum 2 years of similar job experience preferred
• Basic math skills
• Basic computer skills and/or comfort using a computer
• Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility
• Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding and new hire training

Salary: $28.52 - $30.65 per hour. A starting wage higher than $28.52 per hour is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.
