Job summary

Central Steel & Wire, a member of the Ryerson Family of Companies, is seeking a Saw Operator for the 2nd shift to cut materials in accordance with drawings and specifications. You will operate saws, inspect pieces for quality, and maintain equipment.

Qualifications

• Pass a skills-based assessment including reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving.
• Minimum 2 years of similar job experience preferred.
• Regular attendance is required.
• Basic math skills are required.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Able to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing and mobility.
• Onboarding includes enrollment in a registered apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

• Operate saw equipment to cut materials to specified dimensions with accuracy.
• Inspect cut pieces to ensure they meet quality standards.
• Perform routine maintenance on saw equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment to minimize downtime.
• Follow safety protocols for a safe work environment.
• Pick and stage feedstock for fulfillment orders.
• Break down bulk bundles for customer orders.
• Package material to customer requirements.
• Operate a sit-down or side loader forklift as needed.
• Complete SAP work orders for shipping/receiving.
• Maximize productivity for finished goods creation.
• Other duties as assigned.
