Job summary

RTX is seeking a Mission Systems Engineer II for a satellite mission engineering team. The selected candidate will join a 24/7 operations environment in Alexandria, VA, with overtime and shift work required.

You will contribute to Operations Planning and Command and Control, and work with a certified team of subject matter experts. Responsibilities include daily operations planning, documenting discrepancies, testing ground software deliveries, and cross-training teammates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in STEM with 2+ years of related engineering experience.
• Active TS/SCI CI Poly clearance required prior to start date.
• U.S. citizenship required; only U.S. citizens eligible for the clearance.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement a daily operations plan using complex software and hardware systems.
• Maintain technical knowledge of formal procedures and apply correct ones.
• Learn hardware subsystems and document discrepancies with workarounds.
• Support testing, readiness, training, and implementation of new ground software.
• Cross-train and assist training of other personnel on the contract team.
• Lead interactions and support missions to initialize new missions.
• Work program priorities to implement process improvements.
• Travel periodically to interact with sites and factories.
• Operate in a small team environment (3-7 people).
