Job summary

RTX in Las Cruces, NM seeks a Principal Systems Operations Engineer to support mission-critical satellite ground system operations. You will manage baseline software, monitor health, troubleshoot issues, and generate regular performance reports for government customers.

The role requires a STEM degree with 8+ years of related experience and an active TS/SCI clearance with a current polygraph. On-site work, cross-functional collaboration, and 24/7 coverage are essential aspects of this position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in STEM with 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in systems engineering, operations, or maintenance for complex software/hardware.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capabilities for operational recovery.
• Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions in an operational setting.
• Active and transferable TS/SCI clearance with a current Polygraph is required.

Responsibilities

• Manage baseline software and system installations in operational environments.
• Monitor and report system availability, health, and performance metrics.
• Troubleshoot issues, investigate anomalies, and support recovery to maintain mission readiness.
• Generate weekly, monthly, and ad hoc availability and performance reports for leadership and customers.
• Represent the program in technical meetings, reviews, and briefings.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute operational activities.
• Provide backup support to technical leadership during meetings and reviews.
• Support 24/7 operational activities, including occasional off-hours on-call support.
