Job summary

Portal Space Systems in Bothell, WA is seeking an Integration Build Engineer to lead satellite integration, tooling development, and end-to-end testing through launch. You will partner with design and analysis teams, develop repeatable build and test processes, and own qualification activities for development articles and assemblies.

You will travel to launch sites as needed, ensure quality control, author procedures, and support manufacturing execution for space hardware in a high-reliability,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical discipline, or 6 years of relevant experience.
• 4+ years of hands-on aerospace hardware development experience including assembling, integrating, troubleshooting, or testing.
• Experience designing tooling from concept through 3D modeling, fabrication, and implementation.
• Experience in writing manufacturing procedures, work instructions, build documentation, maintaining configuration control, nonconformance management, manufacturing change control, and hardware traceability.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement tooling in support of satellite integration and testing.
• Develop repeatable processes for building and testing.
• Lead quality control and issue resolution of satellite integration.
• Author procedures, specifications, and work instructions.
• Launch Site support for new spacecraft builds.
• Collaborate on the satellite design with the design engineering team, supporting development testing and design for manufacturability.
• Review and create engineering drawings, analyze test results and defects, and develop and implement test plans in partnership with the design engineering team.
• Work with the design engineering team to successfully build and test development articles and qualification assemblies.
