Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a seasoned Systems Engineer to lead fault management and autonomy initiatives for spaceflight programs. You will shape architectures, define redundancy, and drive verification and validation across mission phases in close collaboration with the SEIT team.

Strong emphasis on safety, reliability, and high engineering standards is required to advance human spaceflight. The role requires deep systems engineering, experience with FMECA/FTA/FHA analyses, embedded software

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace engineering or Physics
  • 5+ years in systems engineering for aerospace
  • Experience with fault-tolerance architectures for safety-critical systems
  • Autonomous system design, analysis and test experience
  • Familiarity with embedded software system design
  • Knowledge of FMECA, FTA and FHAs
  • Ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines and communicate risks
  • Willingness to travel 10-20%
  • Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance

Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage fault management architectures including design principles and requirements
  • Define redundancy architecture including cross-strapping and fault containment regions
  • Architect, design, and analyze autonomous behaviors, modes, and states
  • Plan and execute integrated system Fault Management and Autonomy Verification and Validation
  • Monitor and approve fault management and autonomy design, development, and test
  • Drive process improvements with ownership and urgency
