Real is seeking a Senior SAP S/4HANA Project Manager to oversee a global OTC deployment. You will guide the project from requirements and scope through go-live and hypercare, operating in a global PMO with multiple deployments.

You will balance strategic programme leadership with hands-on execution, engage senior stakeholders, and drive risk mitigation and delivery across workstreams in a matrixed environment.

Senior SAP S/4HANA Project Manager - OTC

Global SAP S/4HANA Transformation Program | Remote (US) | 9-12 Month Contract (with extensions)

Are you an SAP Project Manager who has successfully helped lead a complex global SAP deployment from requirements and scope definition through go-live and hypercare?

We're looking for a senior SAP S/4HANA Project Manager to join a large-scale global transformation programme and act as the trusted partner to a Deployment Lead throughout an end-to-end deployment lifecycle.

This is not a workstream PM, Scrum Master, or technology project manager role.

We need someone who has operated across an entire deployment, navigated complex stakeholder environments, challenged scope assumptions, managed competing priorities, and played a key role in delivering major ERP transformations successfully.

About the Role

As the Senior SAP S/4HANA Project Manager, you will serve as the Deployment Lead's strategic "co-pilot," helping guide a deployment from early solution confirmation and requirements alignment through implementation, cutover, go-live, and hypercare.

You'll work within a global PMO environment where multiple deployments may be running simultaneously, taking ownership of one deployment while collaborating across the broader programme.

Success in this role requires someone who can balance strategic programme leadership with hands-on execution, confidently engage senior business stakeholders, and leverage previous SAP deployment experience to proactively identify risks and recommend solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner directly with the Deployment Lead to drive an SAP S/4HANA deployment end-to-end.
• Lead deployment planning, governance, execution, and reporting activities.
• Facilitate requirements gathering and solution confirmation workshops with business and functional stakeholders.
• Build, structure, and maintain the deployment requirements portfolio.
• Challenge, prioritise, and negotiate scope to ensure delivery within programme timelines and budget constraints.
• Translate high-level milestones into detailed, executable deployment plans.
• Manage dependencies, risks, issues, assumptions, and mitigation plans across multiple workstreams.
• Drive alignment between business stakeholders, functional teams, and implementation partners.
• Support stage-gate governance and deployment readiness reviews.
• Present programme status, risks, recommendations, and mitigation strategies to senior leadership.
• Influence cross-functional teams within a highly matrixed environment.
• Apply previous SAP deployment experience to challenge plans and recommend better approaches where appropriate.
• Support deployment execution through testing, cutover, go-live, and hypercare.

What You'll Be Doing in Your First 6 Months

A critical focus of this role will be:

Solution Confirmation → Requirements Definition → Scope Prioritisation → Functional Alignment → Detailed Deployment Planning

You will be expected to:

• Engage business stakeholders to understand and document requirements.
• Build and structure a comprehensive requirements portfolio.
• Validate requirements alongside functional leads.
• Prioritise scope against timeline, budget, and programme constraints.
• Facilitate difficult discussions regarding scope trade-offs.
• Help lock down an achievable deployment scope.
• Transition approved requirements to technology and development teams.
• Develop an integrated deployment plan capable of meeting committed business dates.

This programme can teach you the organisation's processes and terminology. It cannot teach SAP deployment fundamentals.

Required Experience

Must-Have

• 7+ years of project or programme management experience.
• Multiple end-to-end SAP deployment experiences.
• Strong SAP S/4HANA transformation background.
• Proven experience supporting deployments from requirements through go-live and hypercare.
• Expertise in requirements management, scope definition, planning, and governance.
• Experience translating strategic milestones into detailed delivery plans.
• Strong stakeholder management across business, functional, and technical teams.
• Experience managing scope, budget, timeline, and delivery trade-offs.
• Strong risk, issue, dependency, and mitigation management capabilities.
• Executive-level communication and presentation skills.
• Experience working within large, global, matrixed organisations.

Preferred

• Order-to-Cash (OTC) experience.
• Manufacturing, distribution centre, or supply chain deployment experience.
• Greenfield and/or brownfield SAP implementation experience.
• Experience within MedTech, Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing, Consumer Products, Consumer Electronics, or Energy sectors.
• Previous experience partnering with global systems integrators and implementation partners.
