Principal IT SAP Functional Analyst - UI Planner

Location: Oakland, CA, (Hybrid) | Perm Position

Position Summary

The IT SAP Functional Analyst UI Planner is responsible for configuring, implementing, maintaining, and upgrading all modules of UI Planner.

The analyst analyzes business requirements, creates functional design documents, and performs system configuration and localization to deliver solutions for the Line of Business and IT organizations. This role acts as a strategic partner and business liaison in technology decisions, providing ongoing support for UI Planner systems, analyzing business needs, and developing integrated IT and business solutions.

This position requires at least 3 days in-office, with the flexibility to work remotely based on business needs within the Client's Service Territory.

Responsibilities

Business Support and Consulting

• Define standard processes in UI Planner and promote their adoption in Finance.
• Analyze complex end-to-end business processes across all UI Planner modules.
• Understand current and future business environments to meet needs using existing and new UI Planner capabilities.
• Identify and propose IT solutions for complex cross-organizational problems, negotiating requirements and deliverables.
• Evaluate customizations to balance risks and costs, advocating for standard functionalities to reduce future costs and TCO.

Functional Analysis

• Automate and optimize UI Planner system processes.
• Map business requirements to SAP S4 / SAP BW4HANA system capabilities and configure accordingly.
• Review design and technical specifications for alignment with business solutions.
• Perform configuration, quality review, and testing activities.

Qualifications

Minimum

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent experience
• 10 years of experience in Information Technology
• 8 years as a Functional Analyst in UI Planner system
• Experience in project creation, estimation, and approval processes

Desired

• Checks and balances to prevent data issues
• Experience with Month-End Close Processes
• UI Planner Integration Tools expertise
• Knowledge of SDLC, Integration, and ETL processes
• Expertise in UI Planner Financial Model, including calculations, reports, interfaces, and system design
• Experience with additional UI Planner Modules (Regulatory, Rate Design, PlannerDash, etc.)
• Managing IT transformation and software implementation projects
• SQL and Database architecture skills for UI Planner interfaces
• Issue investigation and quick fix deployment abilities
• Ability to liaise between finance, IT, and vendors
• Training plan design, user guides, and documentation creation skills
• Understanding of Utility Finance and Regulated Accounting
• Knowledge of utility accounting concepts and regulatory processes
• Experience with PowerPlan, SAP, Oracle, and utility ERP systems
• Proven ability to design and implement end-to-end UI Planner processes
• Java development experience (preferred)
