Job Summary
Levy at American Airlines Center is seeking a dependable, motivated, and detail‑oriented event‑based part‑time Steward to join our Sanitation team. In this essential role, you will help maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety throughout our kitchens and food service areas, ensuring our culinary teams have a clean, safe, and organized environment to deliver exceptional guest experiences during sporting events, concerts, and world‑class entertainment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Sweeps and mops floors at appropriate intervals to ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards; complies with all outlined sanitation and safety requirements; segregates and removes trash and garbage and places it in designated containers; steam‑cleans or hoses out garbage cans in appropriate and assigned areas; washes dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and other food preparation machines and equipment.
- Operates large electric machines such as dishwashers, sanitizers, trash compactors, and glass crushers; washes worktables, walls, refrigerators, and meat blocks, and all other food prep surfaces as assigned.
- Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas, observing all safe lifting standards.
- Assists with banquet table and front‑of‑the‑house set up as requested; assists with loading or unloading and delivering supplies and products; distributes supplies, utensils, and portable equipment as needed.
- Maintains compliance with all food safety, sanitation, workplace safety, and company policies and procedures.
- Performs additional duties and special projects as assigned to support business operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in food service, hospitality, stadium/arena operations, hotels, clubs, or full‑service restaurants.
- Minimum of one (1) year of custodial, janitorial, sanitation, or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
- Valid TABC certification (or the ability to obtain one within required timeframe).
- Valid ServSafe Food Handler Certification (or the ability to obtain one within required timeframe).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Stand and walk for extended periods during scheduled shifts.
- Regularly bend, stoop, kneel, squat, reach, and perform repetitive motions.
- Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, and fast‑paced kitchen environments while maintaining attention to safety and detail.
