Job summary

Fortrex is seeking an on-site sanitation technician in a permanent, full-time role at our New York facility. You will work with management and regulatory agencies to ensure sanitation procedures meet QA and USDA standards, keeping equipment and workspace clean and safe.

You will handle chemicals within limits, monitor PPE, and communicate issues to supervisors, contributing to a compliant and efficient plant environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• 6+ months of experience in sanitation and/or food processing industry.
• Ability to take direction and instruction from manager and be accountable for own actions.
• Safety awareness and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in extreme temperature fluctuations.

Responsibilities

• Work cooperatively with management, team members, customers, and regulatory agencies to ensure sanitation procedures are followed.
• Maintain open communications with all team members in the plant. Meet with the Supervisor on a regular basis to ensure all issues are addressed, including missing or damaged parts and equipment.
• Clean and sanitize equipment and workspace in a designated area of the plant.
• Ensure team members in assigned area are completing job tasks to QA and USDA standards. Inspect equipment to ensure all areas are clean for pre-op inspections.
• Handle chemicals to ensure usage is within specified limits.
• Monitor and provide personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Other duties as assigned.
