Job summary

Fortrex is seeking a Lead Person to oversee and enhance sanitation processes in our food processing facilities. You will direct the sanitation crew, train team members, and support the supervisor to maintain a spotless, safe plant environment.

You will collaborate with management, customers, and regulatory agencies to ensure adherence to sanitation procedures and standards. The role involves working in a wet, hot, or cold environment in PPE and may require location-based shift variations.

Qualifications

• Leadership and decision making skills are required.
• 6 or more months of experience in sanitation and/or food processing industry.
• Ability to take direction and instruction from manager and be accountable for own actions.
• Safety awareness and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in extreme temperature fluctuations.

Responsibilities

• Work cooperatively with management, team members, customers, and regulatory agencies to ensure sanitation procedures are followed.
• Maintain open communications with all team members in the plant. Meet with the supervisor on a regular basis to ensure all issues are being properly handled and addressed, including missing or damaged parts and equipment.
• Clean and sanitize equipment and workspace in a designated area of the plant.
• Ensure team members in assigned area are completing job tasks to QA and USDA standards. Inspect equipment to ensure all areas are clean for pre‑op inspections.
• Handle chemicals to ensure usage is within specified limits.
• Monitor and provide personal protective equipment ('PPE').
• Other duties as assigned.
