Job summary

Vital Farms - Current Crew Members is seeking a Sanitation Associate to join Egg Central Station (ECS). You will clean and sanitize our facility, equipment, and materials, bridging local farms to grocery stores. Expect 12-hour shifts with day (7am–7pm) and night (7pm–7am) crews.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of sanitation or manufacturing experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow specific instructions.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in English for safety and quality reasons.
  • Able to frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
  • Able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch for extended periods.
  • Good manual dexterity to reach, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Able to work safely around moving mechanical parts.
  • Able to work safely in wet conditions.
  • Strong math and computer skills.
  • Able to work without direct supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Follow GMPs and Vital Farms policies ensuring food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements.
  • Report conditions affecting food safety, quality, or safety.
  • Operate sanitation equipment and handle chemicals safely.
  • Keep facilities clean including processing areas, entrances, and break rooms.
  • Support GMP initiatives by cleaning and stocking footbaths and hand washing stations.
  • Manage egg washer water changes and CIP circuits; assist in cleaning equipment.

What You’ll Do (Job Overview)

As a Sanitation Associate at Vital Farms, you will work within our state-of-the-art manufacturing and production facility cleaning and sanitizing our facility, materials, and processing equipment. This role at Egg Central Station (ECS) bridges the gap from local family farms to grocery stores for our consumers. You’ll be on your feet during each twelve-hour shift, moving, lifting, loading, and working in an air-conditioned and sunlight-filled warehouse.

  • Week 1: 2 days on / 2 days off / 3 days on
  • Week 2: 2 days off / 2 days on / 3 days off
  • Shifts: 12-hour shifts
    • Day Crew - 7am to 7pm
    • Night Crew - 7pm to 7am

A Day as a Sanitation Associate at Egg Central Station
  • Follow all Vital Farms policies, procedures, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) while working in alignment with regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements.
  • Report any conditions or practices that may affect food safety, quality, or personnel safety.
  • Operate sanitation equipment and safely handle chemicals.
  • Ensure facility cleanliness by cleaning spills, processing areas, entrances, facilities, and break room.
  • Support GMP initiatives by cleaning and stocking footbaths and hand washing stations.
  • Manage egg washer water changes, run CIP circuits, and assist in cleaning processing equipment.
  • Titrate chemicals and ensure appropriate levels on chemical mixing stations, dispensers, material washers, and CIP circuits.
  • Maintain egg waste according to SOP using the Egg Press equipment.
  • Regularly audit equipment and supplies and communicate replacement or reorder needs.
  • Operate lab equipment and perform testing to prevent downtime/processing delays.
  • Obtain certification to operate a scissor lift or pallet jack.
  • Help with special projects and other duties as assigned.
