Job summary

Midland Farms in New York is seeking an evening/overnight Sanitation and CIP technician to clean and sanitize equipment, assist in pre-operation tests and start-up, and ensure no coliform in finished product. You will drive a 100% on-time start-up rate and maintain health and safety compliance.

Responsibilities include managing sanitation and master sanitation schedules, documenting activities, coordinating with Ecolab, and communicating issues to management.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; associate degree preferred.
  • 2 - 4 years production or sanitation experience.
  • Ability to read chemical labels and follow safe handling procedures for food grade products.
  • Ability to accurately record data.
  • Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts, as required.
  • Must be able to pass all medical exams, drug and background checks (including criminal).

Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility of cleaning, sanitation, and documentation of sanitation and master sanitation schedules for the plant.
  • Achieves production and quality targets.
  • Responsible for cleaning properly to ensure the quality of all products produced within the facility.
  • Keep your manager informed of activities that are in line with the company’s quality systems, processes and procedures.
  • Monitor, measure and report job specific production and sanitation issues to your manager.
  • Work with Ecolab on sanitation procedures and compliance.
  • Ensures all circuits are checked for titrations and are inspected after cleaning.
  • Communicate issues, sanitation and CIP related challenges, and bottling line issues to your manager.
  • Keeps up to date the Quality Preventive Maintenance Schedule.
  • Performs pre-operation checks and releases machines to operators.
  • Ensure good communication is given either verbally or written to your manager.
  • Ensure that Health and Safety rules and regulations are adhered to during the shift and all matters relating to this are adhered to using the resources within the company in line with the companies Health and Safety policy.
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills are used to identify root causes, along with taking fast effective action to resolve the problems in hand.
  • An active participant in the company’s continuous improvement plan to achieve plans for future growth within the company.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe workplace.
  • All employees are responsible for ensuring company resources are used in an effective manner to ensure best operating costs.
  • Maintaining high level of timekeeping is of the essence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Sanitation and CIP

**This is an evening/overnight position**


ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Clean-up equipment throughout the process, assist in pre-operation tests and start-up process, complete sanitation processes, complete master sanitation schedule assignments, and post clean-up verification program. Ensures the clean-up process is 100% complete and the plant maintains NO COLIFORM IN FINISHED PRODUCT. Drives a 100% on time start-up rate, with smooth running of the production process to hand off when the operator arrives. Ensures that actions comply with the company’s Health and Safety procedures.

Physical requirements/work environment


  • Must be able to stand, walk, kneel and bend required for virtually the entire shift. Occasionally required to climb or balance. Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 75 pounds.

  • Must be able to work in a wet environment. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals. Exposure to nut allergens.

  • Manual and vehicular transfer of materials within production areas.

  • Position requires frequent lifting, reaching, climbing, pulling, stooping, bending, and kneeling.

  • Maintain constant mental focus and constantly be aware of surroundings.
