Position Overview

The Sand Plant Superintendent oversees the safe operation and maintenance of sand and gravel pits and aggregate production in Dover, DE. Responsibilities include customer service, personnel supervision, quality assurance, and environmental compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Follow all safety rules and regulations of MSHA/OSHA/DOT and Pennsy Supply, Inc.
2. Conduct daily safety assignments such as area inspections, pre-shifts, JSA’s, TRACK, etc.
3. Report to the Area Manager.
4. Coordinate with the plant operator on maintenance issues, prioritize requests, and manage the maintenance program.
5. Prepare monthly budget forecasts.
6. Lead daily performance and safety meetings.
7. Record daily production metrics and delegate as needed.
8. Review production data at shift start, discuss discrepancies, and implement solutions.
9. Initiate production start-up and daily activities.
10. Enter and review production information daily.
11. Verify employee timesheets, correct hours, and approve as required.
12. Fill in at various positions within quarry operations as needed.
13. Review stripping and production requirements daily and schedule accordingly.
14. Ensure safety policies are followed by all employees and contractors.
15. Promote continuous improvement of 5S practices.
16. Supervise stockpiling, review material needs daily.
17. Support hourly callouts and monitor plant operations.
18. Maintain dust control procedures and review plant inspections.
19. Create and review work orders with employees.
20. Monitor quality control data for compliance and collaborate with quality control teams.
21. Troubleshoot and repair plant equipment as needed.
22. Manage parts procurement and inventory.
23. Maintain pit haul roads.
24. Inform staff of operational mode changes.
25. Track performance metrics such as TPH, Tons/Month, % Availability, OEE, STVC, R&M Spend.
26. Perform safety and maintenance inspections daily.
27. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must pass a drug test and criminal background check.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Ability to work various shifts, including day, night, or weekends, at different locations.

Education/Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of experience in the aggregate industry.
• Minimum 2 years of leadership experience.
