Job summary

ALS is seeking a Sample Receiving Technician to accept and process incoming samples from clients and field personnel. You will inspect containers and preservatives, log items into the LIMS, and transport or dispose of samples as needed.

You will follow SOPs and QA standards, maintaining professionalism with clients. The role requires good data entry skills, basic chemistry knowledge, and the ability to work as part of a team in a lab environment.

Qualifications

• Detail oriented – able to accurately interpret and transcribe information from client chain of custody into laboratory systems.
• Good typing / data entry skills.
• Familiarity with chemical symbols and general scientific terminology.
• Have a demonstrated ability to communicate well in English, both verbal and written.
• Ability to multi-task and work as part of a team.
• Proven ability to learn new concepts quickly.
• Basic knowledge of EPA methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Receive samples from outside clients and field service personnel and inspect for proper containers, temperatures, preservatives, etc.
• Accurately log samples into the laboratory LIMS system.
• Transport samples to appropriate storage locations and dispose of expired samples.
• Perform other duties as assigned and directed.
• Ensure compliance with SOPs, QA manual and ALS Client Service Manual.
• Maintain professional appearance and conduct with ALS staff and clients.
