Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a per diem Registered Nurse for the Same Day Surgery department at RWJUH Rahway Hospital in New Jersey. The role emphasizes individualized nursing care within a procedural environment, with day shifts and an hourly pay range of $48.29 to $65.06.

You will assess, plan, and implement nursing interventions, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure safety, quality, and patient experience throughout the surgical journey.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey RN license
• Current American Heart Association CPR/BLS and ACLS/PALS certifications
• BSN preferred
• NLN-accredited school of nursing clinical experience
• National nursing certification (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Providing individualized nursing care to Same Day Surgery patients in accordance with the New Jersey Nurse Practice Act, professional nursing standards, and organizational policies
• Performing comprehensive assessments and using clinical judgment to identify each patient's needs and develop an appropriate care plan
• Implementing and evaluating nursing interventions while adapting care based on patient condition
• Promoting patient safety throughout the surgical experience by recognizing potential risks
• Communicating clearly with patients and families to help them understand their care
• Collaborating with nurses, physicians, and other care professionals to promote coordinated, high-quality care
• Applying evidence-based nursing practices while integrating safety, quality, and patient experience into decision-making
• Maintaining awareness of the patient population served within Same Day Surgery
• Identifying and reporting safety concerns to support patient safety culture
• Participating in performance improvement activities to strengthen patient care and safety
• Maintaining professional accountability and pursuing continued clinical development
