Job summary

Parkridge Medical Center, part of Parkridge Health System, seeks a Same Day Surgery Nurse to influence patient care through collaboration with managers and nursing councils. You will participate in hospital initiatives and contribute to leadership development while maintaining safe perioperative care.

Qualifications

• RN with an associate degree is required.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 30 days of start date.
• Surgical services experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patient including IV therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification per hospital policy (briefing, timeout, debriefing).
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care using evidence-based practices.
• Work as part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team with providers, surgeons, and staff.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Assess patient condition throughout shift and document changes.
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment, and follow-up.
