Job summary

Parkridge Medical Center in Chattanooga is seeking a Same Day Surgery Nurse PRN to join our team. This role emphasizes patient-centered perioperative care, preoperative prep, and collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiology, and OR staff.

You will evaluate patients, educate families, manage IV therapy and medications, and participate in universal protocol steps. On-call is required during select non-business hours, with self scheduling posted four weeks in advance.

Qualifications

• Must have Basic Cardiac Life Support within 30 days of start date.
• RN - Registered Nurse credential required.
• Associate degree in nursing required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education about peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients including IV therapy and preoperative medications.
• Perform surgical site verification and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care and participate in continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team consisting of providers, surgeons, surgical technologists and more.
• Apply nursing process with critical thinking and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Document changes in patient condition and care provided.
• Educate patients and families about treatment and follow-up measures.
