Job summary

Baker Tilly US, LLP is seeking a State & Local Tax Director focused on high net worth residency and state income tax consulting to join our residency practice in California and beyond.

You will lead complex residency, domicile, and multistate matters for high net worth individuals and families, work with Private Wealth leaders, oversee risk and quality, mentor senior staff, and drive business development to expand the firm’s national footprint.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; advanced degrees preferred.
• Extensive state and local tax experience with residency, domicile, sourcing, and audits.
• CPA, CMI or Law license/JD/LLM required; eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Proven ability to generate new business and develop client relationships.
• Executive-level communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead residency, domicile, and multistate individual income tax matters for high net worth clients.
• Develop and maintain client relationships and lead business development.
• Provide strategic direction and oversight to senior managers and engagement leaders.
• Collaborate with Private Wealth to deliver national residency services.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and shape firm positions.
