Job Summary
University Advancement raises private philanthropic support for the University of Utah - funding scholarships, research, and programs across campus. The Salesforce Administrator is the steward of the system of record behind that fundraising: donor relationships, gift processing workflows, and the campaign infrastructure relied on by gift officers university-wide. This position ensures the secure, reliable operation of the Salesforce environment that Advancement and campus fundraising partners depend on to generate donations and steward donors.
Working within the Information Services team, the Salesforce Administrator partners with Business Analysts, Data Analysts, developers, and trainers to configure, secure, and continuously improve the fundraising platform. The ideal candidate combines strong Salesforce administration skills with an understanding of fundraising operations, and thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
This position reports to the Associate Director of IT within the Information Services team.
Please note, the posted salary range reflects the compensation range within which we will make an offer. Offers are determined based on qualifications, skills, and experience. Placement at the top of the range is reserved for candidates who demonstrate exceptional qualifications and experience directly aligned with the role.

Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the Salesforce Administrator include:
Platform security and data stewardship
- Safeguard donor and constituent data through security-conscious user and access management (roles, profiles, permissions, public groups, sharing rules, and OWD settings) protecting sensitive philanthropic records used across the university
- Ensure continuity of donor records and gift data through backup monitoring and recovery readiness
Fundraising platform configuration and enhancement
- Configure and enhance the tools gift officers rely on daily, including Flow, assignment rules, approval processes, fields, page layouts, record types, dynamic layouts, apps, actions, custom settings, mobile administration, and reports and dashboards
- Translate fundraising business requirements into effective technical designs, partnering with Business Analysts, Data Analysts, and developers on enhancements
- Manage sandbox environments and drive testing and validation of configuration and code-based changes
- Administer releases using change sets or app-based DevOps tools (Copado, Gearset, or similar)
- Monitor and maintain the order-of-execution integrity of automated processes during record creation and updates
Integrated fundraising systems
- Implement and maintain integrated applications supporting fundraising operations, including GiveCampus (online giving), Conga and DocuSign (gift documentation), FormAssembly (forms and constituent engagement), Salesforce Maps, Jitterbit (donor data synchronization), and custom REST API integrations
User support, training, and documentation
- Resolve escalated support issues for end users across Advancement, PBS Utah, and campus fundraising partners
- Collaborate with the Talent Enhancement team to guide user training and document platform enhancements
- Maintain clear, current technical and process documentation
Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT : 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Systems Administrator, III : Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.
Preferences
- Demonstrated understanding of fundraising operations (donor lifecycle, gift processing, campaign management) strongly preferred
- 1+ year of Salesforce administration experience with active Salesforce Administrator Certification
- Familiarity with Kindsight Ascend managed package or the ability to ramp-up quickly to a complex managed package. If you have fundraising experience, we expect you to get up to speed with our managed package in 3 months or less. Without fundraising experience, we expect your training to take at least 6 months to learn business processes.

- Clear written and verbal communication — able to explain technical concepts to fundraisers and campus partners, and business needs to developers
- Curiosity and aptitude for learning new technologies, tools, and Advancement business processes
- Customer-service mindset with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring the quality and reliability of systems gift officers depend on
- Self-directed in managing multiple priorities and deadlines, while working collaboratively across a cross-functional, mission-driven team
