Job Summary
The Sales Trainer is responsible for leading and delivering effective sales training curriculum and providing individual coaching to sales personnel, as well as offering sales training support to sales management and field sales teams. This role is a key contributor to a results-driven organization, directly influencing the professional development of sales leaders and their teams. The top candidate will be innovative, passionate about the success of others, an excellent facilitator, and champion of learning and transformation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver existing sales training curriculum to ensure maximum effectiveness of the sales force.
- Align training activities with the company’s goals and objectives to ensure achievement of revenue, growth, and sales targets.
- Provide direct support, coaching and motivation, not limited to telephone calls, attending sales calls, and traveling to field sales locations to meet with stakeholders, facilitate curriculum, provide reinforcement, coordinate training resources, and assist sales leadership and sales operations.
- Conduct training needs analysis by meeting with sales staff, attending sales calls, observing sales encounters, applying best practices, analyzing sales results, and consulting with sales management.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of training programs and knowledge transfer.
- Recommend improvements for sales efficiency and effectiveness through the refinement of training programs, content, methods, and the development and implementation of innovative approaches and techniques.
- Assist with the development of sales training programs and job aids as needed.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including sales leadership, field sales associates, and other departments and stakeholders, to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Maintain job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading trade publications, participating in relevant organizations, and networking with training professionals.
- Willingness to travel 15-25%, which may vary.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and/or equivalent work experience.
- Demonstrated sales experience and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in facilitation to adult learners.
- Knowledge and understanding of a corporate university and its role in the business, adult learning principles, outstanding facilitation and delivery skills, and instructional methodologies.
- Strong, confident presentation, group facilitation, and coaching skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail. Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
- Effective leadership, coaching and mentoring abilities with the competence to motivate performance to achieve desired results.
- Demonstrated skill in designing and/or developing learning assets, such as role plays, self-assessments, training manuals, job aids, and visual aids that align with desired learning or behavioral outcomes.
- Ability to communicate and present ideas effectively both orally and in writing, at a level necessary for satisfactory job performance. Able to present complex terms and information clearly and concisely to a variety of adult audiences.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deal with conflicts and problems constructively. Ability to look at situations systematically, considering the larger context, including competing pressures, resource constraints, and anticipated change.
- Proficient in MS Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Willingness to learn additional programs and systems as needed.
- Participate in and successfully complete required certifications.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in training and development (e.g., CPTD, ATD).
- Learning Management System knowledge is desired.
- Experience with formal sales methodologies.
