Job summary

TransPak is seeking a hands-on Packing Technician to support key customers onsite, lead packing teams, and document procedures. The role will be primarily on customer sites with some work at the TransPak facility as needed.

Responsibilities include measuring and designing packaging, coordinating with customer engineers and logistics to forecast workload, assembling crates, operating power tools, and maintaining safe, efficient operations.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience measuring and designing.
• Strong Microsoft Suite skills.
• Minimum 3 years packing experience.
• High School diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent experience in field.
• At least 6 months experience working with power tools, especially pneumatic power tools
• 3 to 6 months experience with woodworking, wood crafting, carpentry, or other related experience required
• Able to operate forklift, pallet jacks, hand-truck to move heavy materials or product.
• Spatial awareness and attention to detail in packing and securing materials onto crate with care to avoid damage to customer product as instructed.
• Work independently or in teams with minimal supervision.
• Communicate and understand written and verbal instructions.

Job description

Position Summary

Responsible for providing support to key customers onsite through leading packing team, documenting packing procedures and being on site support for forecasting and new product designs. Will primarily be located on customer site, with occasional work at TransPak facility as needed.

Essential Functions

• Sales Support
  • Measures new products and gathers ciritical dimensions and characteristics to feed to design for product development.
  • Documents packing procedures for prototype items to be mass produced around the world.
  • Works with customer engineers and logistics personnel to determine upcoming workload and shipping forecasts.
  • Assists customer with open orders, RMA’s, redesigns.
• Packs Customer Merchandise
  • Carefully lifts, pushes, and places customer equipment/materials inside of TransPak manufactured crates using hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, ladders, or ramps in order to ship customer equipment/materials without damage to customer equipment/materials.
• Assembles Crates
  • Unloads, prepares, and completes assembly of the crate at customer site if not already assembled using hammers, cordless nail guns, or power drills; this includes nailing or hammering on tops or sides of wooden crates to the base or neighboring sides at a customer site or in the TransPak facility depending on production schedule.
  • May assist with other crate assembly tasks as production schedule permits, as needed.
• Safe and Efficient Facility Team Member
  • Address and report all equipment defects or maintenance needs to maintain safe and efficient use. Follow all procedures, policies and know the equipment before using it.
  • Speak up when observing something that may be unsafe or someone performing unsafe acts.
  • Efficiently perform work according to standard operating procedures.
  • Work together with other team members to accomplish tasks safely in a fast-paced production environment.

Marginal Functions

• Gathers feedback from and resolves customer issues.
• Maintains records of scheduled jobs upon delivery and packing.
• Communicates with supervisor/dispatch on completion of jobs.

Education/Knowledge/Skill Requirements

Required
