Job summary

COA Network Inc. is seeking an early- to mid-career sales professional to develop and grow a Northern California territory from its Oakland base.

You will identify new customers, manage the complete sales cycle, and build relationships with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, academic, and research organizations. The strongest candidates combine hands-on sales experience with an understanding of organic chemistry.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Organic Chemistry, Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Biochemistry, Life Sciences or related field.
  • Sales/business development or account management experience preferred.
  • Experience selling to pharma/biotech/life-science/chemical markets is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of organic chemistry is desirable.
  • Ability to clearly communicate scientific and technical information.
  • Strong prospecting, relationship-building, negotiation and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to independently manage a Northern California sales territory.
  • Strong organizational and CRM skills.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across Northern California.
  • Prospect pharmaceutical, biotechnology, academic, CRO, and scientific research customers.
  • Research potential accounts, generate qualified leads, and maintain an active sales pipeline.
  • Manage the sales process from outreach through quotation, negotiation, closing and fulfillment.
  • Prepare pricing, quotations, proposals, and product information per customer needs.
  • Develop long-term relationships with existing customers and expand business.
  • Discuss chemical products, research needs, and technical applications with scientists and purchasing teams.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service, Marketing, R&D, and internal teams to resolve customer needs.
  • Attend customer meetings, conferences, trade shows, and industry events.
  • Maintain accurate account, opportunity, and activity information within the CRM.
  • Monitor market activity, customer needs, competitive trends, and opportunities.
  • Work toward individual revenue goals and team sales objectives.

Summary

This role is ideal for an early- to mid-career sales professional with a background in organic chemistry, life sciences, or scientific products who wants to develop and grow a Northern California territory. You will identify new customers, manage the complete sales process, and build relationships with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, academic, and research organizations.

The strongest candidate combines hands-on sales experience with an understanding of organic chemistry. However, experienced life-science sales professionals without a chemistry background and motivated organic chemistry graduates interested in transitioning into sales will also be considered.

What You’ll Do
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across Northern California.
  • Prospect pharmaceutical, biotechnology, academic, CRO, and scientific research customers.
  • Research potential accounts, generate qualified leads, and maintain an active sales pipeline.
  • Manage the sales process from initial outreach through quotation, negotiation, closing, and order fulfillment.
  • Prepare pricing, quotations, proposals, and product information based on customer requirements.
  • Develop long-term relationships with existing customers while identifying opportunities to expand business.
  • Discuss chemical products, research requirements, and technical applications with scientists and purchasing teams.

Experience You’ll Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Organic Chemistry, Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline strongly preferred.
  • Sales, business development, account management, or customer-facing commercial experience preferred.
  • Experience selling products or services within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life-science, laboratory, or chemical markets is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of organic chemistry is highly desirable.
  • Ability to communicate scientific and technical information clearly to researchers and business stakeholders.
  • Strong prospecting, relationship-building, negotiation, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to independently manage a Northern California sales territory.
  • Strong organizational and CRM skills.
  • Must currently reside in Northern California.
