JOB OVERVIEW
The Sales Manager is responsible for developing and executing sales strategies that drive
revenue growth, expand market presence, and strengthen customer relationships across
assigned retail and distribution channels. This role owns key customer accounts, leads
commercial planning and sales execution, develops business opportunities, and collaborates
cross-functionally to achieve sales, profitability, and operational objectives.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales and account management within the
food & beverage or CPG industry, excellent analytical and communication skills, and experience
supporting retail customers and sales initiatives in a dynamic business environment.
This is a fulltime, exempt position, fully on-site based at our Irvine, CA office. This position also requires frequent nation-wide business travels.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Sales Strategy & Account Management
- Develop and execute sales strategies aligned with the company’s business objectives, brand priorities, and revenue goals.
- Manage relationships with key retail customers, distributors, brokers, and other sales partners to support product distribution and sales growth.
- Identify opportunities to expand product placement, assortment, promotional participation, and overall account performance.
- Support account planning, customer presentations, business reviews, and sales negotiations as needed.
- Manage retail execution activities including product placement, shelf positioning, in-store displays, and other store-level sales initiatives.
- Monitor product merchandising status, display performance, and sales environment issues across retail locations.
- Coordinate follow-up actions to ensure that promotions, events, and in-store activations translate into measurable sales results.
- Work with internal and external partners to address execution gaps and improve store-level visibility and conversion.
3. Product Assortment & Promotional Planning
- Collaborate with relevant teams to develop account-specific product assortment and sales promotion strategies.
- Provide sales input on product configurations, bundle opportunities, promotional mechanics, and customer-specific selling opportunities.
- Support the development of sales presentations, promotional materials, retailer proposals, and customer-facing selling tools.
- Evaluate promotional performance and recommend improvements based on customer feedback and sales results.
- Analyze sales performance by customer, channel, product, promotion, and market to identify opportunities and risks.
- Monitor sales trends, customer feedback, market developments, and competitive activities to support business decisions.
- Prepare sales forecasts, performance updates, account reviews, and executive reporting materials.
- Translate sales and retail data into actionable recommendations for leadership and cross-functional teams.
5. Internal & External Partner Coordination
- Serve as a key liaison between Sales and internal departments to resolve customer issues, communicate retailer needs, and ensure timely follow-up.
- Build and maintain productive working relationships with LAL, brokers, distributors, retailers, and external business partners to support sales growth.
- Lead preparation for customer meetings, business reviews, and internal planning sessions, including agendas, presentations, and action-item management.
- Partner with Marketing, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, and other departments to align business priorities and support successful customer execution.
6. Sales Performance Tracking & Reporting
- Maintain accurate account information, sales plans, project trackers, and related sales documentation.
- Support the establishment and improvement of sales processes, reporting tools, and operating procedures.
- Provide direction and support to junior sales team members or external sales partners, as applicable.
- Perform other sales-related duties necessary to support business growth and commercial objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in sales planning, sales operations, account support, business analysis, or a related commercial role, preferably within the food & beverage, CPG, retail, or consumer products industry.
- Strong understanding of retail account management, sales planning, product assortment, promotional execution, and sales performance analysis.
- Experience managing relationships with retail customers, distributors, brokers, or other external sales partners.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to prepare sales reports and presentation materials.
- Excellent analytical, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualification
- Prior food & beverage or CPG industry experience strongly preferred.
- Experience working with major U.S. retailers or retail sales channels is preferred.
- Bilingual proficiency in English & Korean is preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position and operate office equipment for a prolonged period of time.
- Physical activities include, but are not limited to constant manual dexterity, moving about the work site, and/or handling objects weighing up to 20 lbs.
- Other infrequent physical activities include, but not limited to, positioning self to complete assigned tasks, and ascending/descending floors and/or ladders.
- Must be able to work in a schedule that commensurate with business operation, including work during weekends, holidays and/or times outside of normal business hours.
- Must be able to travel as business necessitates (up to 40% travel)
COMPENSATION
- Base salary range: $90,000 - $120,000 per year, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and demonstrated expertise.
