Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety in Louisiana is seeking a Sales Estimator to contract profitable work and grow new accounts while managing existing relationships. You will read construction documents, prepare accurate estimates, and coordinate with sales, project teams, and AHJs as needed.

Ideal candidates have strong Excel/Word skills, experience with AutoSprink or SprinkCAD, and a proven track record of meeting deadlines with minimal supervision in a fast-paced fire protection environment.

Qualifications

• 5 years of estimating experience is required.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software.
• Drafting knowledge/experience with AutoSprink or SprinkCAD preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work with others and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to develop sales and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Understand construction fundamentals and read construction documents.
• Prepare estimates and input data into the project tracking system.
• Collaborate with sales staff to complete estimates efficiently.
• Write and submit RFIs during bidding.
• Attend trade shows and meet with clients.

Job description

The Sales Estimator is responsible for contracting profitable work and building relationships with new accounts. The Sales Estimator must also continue selling to existing accounts within the region of focus that aligns with the role and the company’s goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Understands construction fundamentals while being able to read and comprehend construction documents.
• Perform tasks such as downloading documents, setting up folders, completing Excel and Word documents.
• Works closely with other sales staff to complete estimates efficiently and accurately.
• Data entry for companywide job tracking purposes.
• Responsible for preliminary system layout and design for estimating of projects.
• Communication with AHJ or other governing agencies.
• Responsible for writing and submitting RFIs during the bidding phase of the project.
• Attendance of RFP sales meetings as mandated by manager.
• Responsible for code research related to projects as required.
• Review and monitor online plan room services for future project opportunities.
• Complete and maintain contractor and owner pre-qualification forms as required.
• Manage project portal websites.
• Attend Trade Shows as needed. This requires setting up the booth, breaking the booth down and being available during the Trade Show for questions.
• Meet with clients.
• Occasional to moderate domestic travel as required.
• Establish and maintain a continuing positive relationship with new and existing accounts.
• Identify and analyze customer preferences to properly direct sales efforts.
• Provide regular feedback and reports regarding performance.
• Acts as a company representative with potential customers and clients.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Education/Qualification

• 5 years of estimating experience is required.
• Expected to be technically proficient in applicable design standards and codes.
• Drafting knowledge/experience in AutoSprink or SprinkCAD preferred, but not required.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proven ability and track record of performing work and meeting deadlines with minimum to no supervision.
• Coordinates and works well with others.
• Willingness to develop sales and customer service skills.
• Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software, ServiceTrade experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• This position may encounter light lifting of materials for delivery.
• Onsite demands would require walking and standing for long periods of time, climbing and descending ladders/steps.
