Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, LLC in Houston seeks an experienced estimator with a strong background in fire sprinkler services and CAD document comprehension. You will support sales by producing accurate estimates, handling documentation, and coordinating with AHJs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years estimating and selling fire sprinkler services and/or installation.
• Proficient in estimating tools and forms.
• Technical proficiency in design standards and codes.
• Drafting knowledge in AutoSprink or SprinkCAD preferred but not required.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work with others and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to develop sales and customer service skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; ServiceTrade experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Reads and understands fire sprinkler CAD documents.
• Downloads documents, sets up folders, and completes Excel and Word forms.
• Collaborates with sales staff to prepare accurate estimates.
• Performs data entry for company-wide job tracking.
• Preliminary system layout and design for estimating projects.
• Communicates with AHJ or other governing agencies.
• Writes and submits RFIs during bidding.
• Attends RFP sales meetings as required by management.
• Conducts code research for projects as needed.
• Reviews online plan room services for future opportunities.
• Completes pre-qualification forms for contractors and owners.
• Manages project portal websites.
• Attends trade shows when needed and assists booths.
• Meets with clients and travels as required.
• Establishes and maintains relationships with accounts.
• Provides feedback and reports on performance.
• Represents the company to potential customers.

Job description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• understands fire sprinkler fundamentals while being able to read and comprehend Fire sprinkler CAD documents.
• Perform tasks such as downloading documents, setting up folders, completing Excel and Word documents.
• Works closely with other sales staff to complete estimates efficiently and accurately.
• Data entry for companywide job tracking purposes.
• Responsible for preliminary system layout and design for estimating of projects.
• Communication with AHJ or other governing agencies.
• Responsible for writing and submitting RFIs during the bidding phase of the project.
• Attendance of RFP sales meetings as mandated by manager.
• Responsible for code research related to projects as required.
• Review and monitor online plan room services for future project opportunities.
• Complete and maintain contractor and owner pre-qualification forms as required.
• Manage project portal websites.
• Attend Trade Shows as needed. This requires setting up the booth, breaking the booth down and being available during the Trade Show for questions.
• Meet with clients.
• Occasional to moderate domestic travel as required.
• Establish and maintain a continuing positive relationship with new and existing accounts.
• Identify and analyze customer preferences to properly direct sales efforts.
• Provide regular feedback and reports regarding performance.
• Acts as a company representative with potential customers and clients.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Qualification

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of estimating and selling fire sprinkler services and/or installation.
• Working knowledge of estimating tools and forms.
• Expected to be technically proficient in applicable design standards and codes.
• Drafting knowledge/experience in AutoSprink or SprinkCAD preferred, but not required.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proven ability and track record of performing work and meeting deadlines with minimum to no supervision.
• Coordinates and works well with others.
• Willingness to develop sales and customer service skills.
• Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software, ServiceTrade experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements

This position may encounter light lifting of materials for delivery. Onsite demands would require walking and standing for long periods of time, climbing and descending ladders/steps.
