Job summary
Automation Personnel Services in Pelham, AL is seeking a Technical Sales Estimator – Sales Engineer to prepare detailed estimates for substation control buildings and related modular structures. You will interpret complex drawings, assess electrical components, and support the sales team to maximize opportunities within the utilities market.
Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 5+ years in technical estimating or sales engineering.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, construction management or related field; equivalent hands-on estimating experience considered.
- Minimum 5+ years in technical estimating, project engineering, or sales engineering within building construction, electrical equipment, or utility infrastructure.
- Solutions-driven with ability to analyze customer requirements and provide consultative input.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office; CAD, Revit, BIM familiarity beneficial.
- Detail-oriented, results-driven, strong time management, and clear communication.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates and bids for substation control buildings and modular structures; analyze labor, materials, electrical components and feasibility.
- Interpret blueprints and specifications for structural, electrical and mechanical requirements.
- Review contracts and PO terms; identify and mitigate commercial and technical risks.
- Provide technical support to independent and direct sales teams.
- Coordinate with engineering, production, purchasing and project management to confirm scope, timelines, manufacturability and pricing.
