Job summary

Steel Dynamics, Inc. seeks a Sales Engineer to support the sales department by ensuring accurate input of products, design loads, and critical data for estimating.

You will liaise with the engineering team to apply current design practices and assist in preparing estimates and quotes. The role involves value engineering for competitive bids on larger projects, acting as the primary contact for estimators, and traveling with DSM and marketing to engage customers and engineering firms in key

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil, Structural or related engineering field.
• Ability to read and understand architectural and structural drawings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Accurate completion of duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist sales team with technical knowledge to complete estimates and quotes.
• Value engineering to help NMBS and key customers be competitive on larger projects.
• Point person for questions from estimators and coordinators.
• Assist the sales supervisor with implementing processes and procedures for estimating and data entry.
• Troubleshoot scope issues with the estimator and review drawings to find bid-time issues.
• Travel with DSM and marketing to visit customers and engineering firms to support key markets.
• Understand deadlines and operate effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Communicate with customers, structural engineers and NM departments to ensure proper practices.
• Attend structural engineering and other construction-related conferences for marketing of NM products and services.
