Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Sales Engineer to grow our building automation and HVAC controls business in the Austin area. You will combine technical BAS/DDC knowledge with business development to identify opportunities and secure new installation, retrofit, and service projects.

You will review plans, prepare estimates, and present solutions to contractors and owners, building lasting customer relationships and driving long-term growth within a dynamic, growing team.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in building automation, HVAC controls, or related technical sales.
  • Strong understanding of BAS/ BMS, DDC controls, and commercial HVAC systems.
  • Experience selling, estimating, designing, or supporting controls projects.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, specifications, controls documents, and sequences.
  • Experience developing project estimates, proposals, scopes, or technical solutions.
  • Strong customer-facing communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to develop relationships and generate new business.
  • Existing relationships within construction, mechanical, engineering, or facilities markets are a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new opportunities for BAS, HVAC controls, DDC, retrofit, and service projects.
  • Build relationships with mechanical contractors, general contractors, consulting engineers, facility managers, and building owners.
  • Review mechanical plans, specifications, sequences of operation, and controls requirements.
  • Help determine project scope, system requirements, and appropriate controls solutions.
  • Prepare estimates, scopes of work, proposals, and technical presentations.
  • Present building automation solutions and recommendations to customers.
  • Negotiate project scope, pricing, and terms.
  • Pursue plan-and-spec, negotiated, retrofit, upgrade, and service opportunities.
  • Maintain an active pipeline and provide sales forecasts.
  • Partner with engineering, estimating, project management, and operations teams.
  • Ensure a smooth transition from project award into execution.
  • Develop long-term customer relationships and repeat business.

Sales Engineer – Building Automation / HVAC Controls

Compensation: $80,000-$110,000 base salary, depending on experience

Schedule: Full-Time | Monday-Friday

Summary: We are looking for an experienced Sales Engineer to help grow our building automation and HVAC controls business. This role combines technical knowledge of BAS/DDC systems with business development, estimating, and customer relationship management.

You’ll work directly with contractors, engineers, facility teams, and building owners to identify opportunities, develop technical solutions, prepare proposals, and secure new installation, retrofit, and service projects.

What You'll Do
