Job summary

McKinstry in Seattle, WA seeks a Sales Engineer to establish the McKinstry brand in a fast-growing market and manage client relationships as the single point of accountability from initial contact to project execution.

Responsibilities include generating leads, producing proposals, and coordinating with internal teams to ensure timely delivery and accurate estimates while building lasting client partnerships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, construction management, or equivalent business experience.
  • Five (5) years of experience with a mechanical or electrical construction contractor, engineering firm or vendor.
  • Two (2) years of experience leading and closing sales.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specs, contracts, proposals, and estimates.
  • Knowledge of building infrastructure mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of conceptual estimating preferred.

  • Produces accurate estimates, assembles quality proposals and demonstrates good written communication skills utilizing McKinstry guidelines and proposal formats.
  • Builds and owns market strategies. Includes SWOT analysis, competitive analysis, and vertical market and horizontal offering strategies.
  • Analyzes the potential of specific projects while considering changing market conditions.
  • Stays up to date in the marketplace.
  • Partners with internal resources to ensure deliverables meet timelines and requirements.
  • Assists the Senior Account Executive with larger projects.
  • Coordinates with Business Unit Manager to ensure successful execution of projects.
  • Provides support to the customer with regards to projects financing and contracting issues.
  • Acts as the client’s single point of accountability.
  • Initiates and develops personal relationships with potential and existing clients.
  • Utilizes McKinstry’s tools and processes to support our customer relationship strategies.

The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are currently seeking a Sales Engineer to join our team as a member of our SPG Mechanical division in Seattle, WA. This is an exciting opportunity to establish the McKinstry brand in a fast growing construction market. This position will focus on building long lasting relationships of trust while becoming the client’s solutions provider.

What we would like to see from you:
  • Must have demonstrated proficiency for all the responsibilities of a Sales Engineer.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio required; working knowledge of SharePoint preferred.

The pay range for this position is $68,310 - $114,500 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This is a non-exempt role and will be paid hourly. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
