Job summary

Advanced Machining and Tooling LLC in Poway, CA is seeking a Sales Engineer to generate quotes and proposals, interfacing with customers and internal teams to ensure accurate quotes and successful projects.

You will evaluate proposals, process POs, and maintain strong customer relationships while coordinating with operations and management to meet KPI targets and budgets.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with CAD software
• Strong GD&T knowledge
• 4+ years of experience
• Experience with various manufacturing processes (e.g., heat treatment, chem film) and machining
• Experience quoting parts from drawings
• Experience with tight tolerance parts
• Experience in precision engineering and aerospace
• Understanding of ERP/job-tracking systems
• Ability to interpret RFQ’s, engineering drawings, and material specifications
• Strong organizational skills to manage quotes, purchase orders, and internal handoffs

Responsibilities

• Evaluate incoming requests for proposals/quotations and review all technical information and drawings
• Receive and process incoming purchase orders, create documents, and transfer information to operations
• Maintain relationships with current customers and seek to deepen and strengthen them
• Manage multiple active quotes and deadlines while following up with customers
• Serve as the point of contact with customers, requesting clarifications, suggesting materials/methods, updating progress
• Take meetings with customers and give facility tours, communicating capabilities and value-added services
• Prepare and present recurring status meetings and forecast updates
• Strive to achieve KPI’s as defined by General Manager
• Other duties as assigned

Location: Poway, CA

Job Type: Full-time (40 hours/week), Non-exempt (hourly), In-Person

Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM PST

About the Role

The Sales Engineer is responsible for generating quotes and proposals for work that meets AM&T’s core competencies. This position acts as the main point of contact between AM&T and its customers. Additionally, this position will interact with all departments to ensure jobs are quoted accurately and to provide reoccurring feedback to management and customers as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate incoming request for proposals / quotes and review all associated technical information and drawings.


• Receive and process incoming purchase orders, create appropriate documents, and transfer information to operations


• Maintain excellent relationships with current customers and seek to deepen and strengthen the relationships.


• Manage multiple active quotes and deadlines while following up with customers.


• Serve as the point of contact with customers, requesting clarifying information, suggesting alternative materials and methods, updating progress, etc.


• Take meetings with customers and give facility tours as needed. Communicate AM&T’s capabilities and sell the value-added AM&T provides to its customers.


• Prepare and present to our customers recurring status meetings as required.


• Prepare/update sales forecasts and assist with quarterly budget updates.


• Strive to achieve goals and KPI’s as defined by General Manager.


• Other duties as assigned.


• Comply with all Advanced Machining and Tooling policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience quoting parts from drawings


• Experience with tight tolerance parts

• Ability to interpret RFQ’s, engineering drawings, and material specifications


• Strong organizational skills to manage quotes, purchase orders, and internal handoffs

Nice to Have

• BS in Engineering


• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.


• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools. (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)


• Ability to prepare and deliver customer presentations or facility tours

Total Rewards Package

The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 annually (depending on experience). This is a permanent, exempt (salaried), full-time position.
