Job summary

Advanced Machining and Tooling LLC in Poway, CA is seeking an experienced CMM Technician to support the Quality Department. Responsibilities include programming and inspecting parts, reviewing incoming material, and ensuring AS9100 compliance to meet AMT quality objectives.

The role requires hands-on CMM experience, blue print reading, GD&T knowledge, and strong attention to detail. This is a full-time, in-person position with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of CMM operating and 1+ years of CMM programming.
• Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T, setup, tooling and fixture techniques.
• Ability to create inspection reports, perform 1st article/in-process/final inspection reports.
• Knowledge of inspection tool usage such as micrometers, calipers.
• Good typing skills and ability to use software such as Word, Excel.

Responsibilities

• Load parts, fixtures, and probes; execute existing CMM programs.
• Write, develop, validate and debug measuring machine programs and provide documentation for CMM inspections.
• Communicate with machinists, supervisors, and engineers to meet customer/shop floor needs.
• Troubleshoot and solve machine issues in the measuring process.
• Perform 1st piece, in-process and last piece inspection according to AS9100 standards.
• Complete customer PPAP requirements including control plans and inspection reports.
• Perform incoming material inspection tasks according to AS9100 procedures.
• Perform final inspection according to AS9100 procedures.
• Perform process and manufacturing audits and follow-up with corrective actions.
• Cross train across multiple departments as needed.
• Perform data collection and communication tasks in ERP and other applications.

About the Role

The purpose of this position is to support the Quality Departments ability to achieve its goals. This includes accurate and timely programming and inspection of parts as well as review of incoming material, work-in-process and customer shipments to achieve AMT quality and business objectives and comply with AS9100 standards. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Load parts, fixtures, and probes; execute existing CMM programs.
• Write, develop, validate and debug measuring machine programs and provide the supporting documentation for CMM inspections.
• Communicate with all machinists, supervisors, and engineers to meet customer/shop floor needs.
• Troubleshoot and solve both machine issues and related problems in the measuring process.
• Perform 1st piece, in-process and last piece inspection using micrometers, calipers, comparators, various gauges and CMM equipment according to AMT, customer and AS9100 standards.
• Complete customer PPAP requirements including control plans and inspection reports.
• Perform incoming material inspection tasks according to AS 9100 procedures and counterfeit awareness per AS6174.
• Perform final inspection according to AS 9100 procedures.
• Perform process and manufacturing audits and follow-up with corrective actions.
• Cross train across multiple departments as needed.
• Perform data collection and communication tasks in ERP and other applications.
• Comply with all Advanced Machining and Tooling policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of CMM operating and 1+ years of CMM programming.
• Strong specific knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T, setup, tooling and fixture techniques.
• Ability to create inspection reports, perform 1st article/in-process/final inspection reports.
• Knowledge of inspection tool usage such as Micrometers, Calipers etc.
• Good typing skills and ability to use software such as word, excel etc.
• Knowledge of how CAD models work.
• Demonstrated critical thinking abilities and root cause analysis.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficient use of shop arithmetic and strong math skills.
• Awareness of general safety, and quality systems.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Nice to Have

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• Specific applied knowledge of aerospace quality procedures and AS9100.
• Knowledge of non-destructive testing, metal finish processes, Metallurgy and heat treatment processes
• Working knowledge of CNC machining, tool, fixture, work-holding and die design.
• Ability to understand CMM reports.

Total Rewards Package

The hourly pay range for this position is $30 - $45 per hour(depending on experience). This is a permanent, non-exempt (hourly), full-time position.
