Job summary

Tribus Aerospace Corporation in Poway, CA is seeking an experienced VMC Mill Operator on 2nd shift to support the Machining department in producing high-precision aerospace components. You will set up and run VMC Mill machines, interpret blueprints and GD&T specs, and ensure tight tolerances and quality.

The role requires 3+ years of VMC Mill experience, ability to edit programs, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of VMC Mill experience.
• Ability to set up and operate Mill machines.
• Knowledge to produce 1st article inspection reports.
• Ability to hold tight tolerances.
• Knowledge of tool wear patterns and tool life management.
• Experience with making minor program edits.
• Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and applying GD&T.
• Ability to work independently on 2nd shift.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Proficient use of basic shop arithmetic.
• Experience using G-codes.
• Awareness of general safety, and quality systems.
• Willingness to assist with varied tasks in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Perform deburr or rework on in-process parts.
• Suggest improvements to processes.
• Maintain clean and safe work environment.
• Perform operator maintenance and other duties as assigned.

About the Role

The purpose of this position is to support the VMC Mill department’s ability to achieve its goals and objectives. This includes the safe and efficient operation of a CNC lathe machine allowing for the achievement of customer expectations for quality and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and Operate VMC Mill machine for the cutting of metallic materials.
• Interpret blueprints, sketches/shop drawings, and engineering specifications.
• Perform tool changes, offsets, and adjustments to maintain part quality.
• Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other metrology tools.
• Maintain tight tolerances and high-quality standards.
• Tool life management.
• Make minor program edits.
• Perform basic de-burr or rework of work in-process.
• Make recommendations to optimize and improve assigned processes.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Perform operator maintenance & other duties as assigned.
• Perform all work according to Advanced Machining and Tooling safety standards and comply with all Advanced Machining and Tooling policies and procedures.

• Proficient use of basic shop arithmetic
• Experience using G-codes required
• Awareness of general safety, and quality systems.
• Willingness to assist with a variety of tasks in a manufacturing setting.

Nice to Have

• Aerospace Experience.
• Experience with aerospace materials (Inconel, titanium, stainless).
• Ability to read, write and interpret written instructions, blueprints, shop drawings and engineering specifications.
• Experience with 3-axis machine set up.

Total Rewards Package

The hourly pay range for this position is $25 - $40 per hour (depending on experience). This is a permanent, non-exempt (hourly), full-time position. Additionally, 2nd shift employees receive a 10% shift bonus as long as they work on 2nd shift.
