Job summary

Mid-Continent Engineering, LLC in Minneapolis, MN, is seeking a Sales Engineer to join our team. This full-time role offers a salary range of $108,000 to $155,000 annually and a first-shift schedule from 6 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday.

The Sales Engineer will build strong customer relationships, identify new opportunities, and explain complex solutions clearly. A bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or engineering and at least five years of sales experience in a manufacturing setting are

Sales Engineer

Full Time Sales Mid-Continent Engineering, LLC, Minneapolis, MN, US

Salary Range: $108,000.00 To $155,000.00 Annually

Mid Continent Engineering is seeking a Sales Engineer to join our team!

This is a 1st Shift, 6 am to 4:30 pm- Monday through Thursday opportunity.

Mid-Continent has been a supplier to first-tier OEMs within the medical, aerospace and defense industries for decades. Mid-Continent Engineering stuffs the armed forces supply chain with products of our capabilities such as precision machining, aerospace welding, chromate conversion, paint/powder coat finishing, mechanical assemblies, and other design-assist services.

Summary:

Sales engineers must have the ability to seek new sales or current customer opportunities. The position requires great communication and the relationship skills to be able to work closely with team members and customers to explain complex solutions in easy-to-understand terms. The ability to alter their presentation style to meet the needs of their audience; and most importantly, build trust with customers will be critical to success.

Essential Duties & Responsibilitiesinclude the following:

  • Seek new business through internal sales with new or current customer base.
  • Build and promote strong, long-lasting relationships by partnering and understanding the customer needs.
  • Capitalize on opportunities presented to the company and determine if our value proposition matches requirements.
  • Provide technical input and suggestions to customers which is essential to our value proposition.
  • Capture & effectively communicate scope creep, and costs impacts associated.
  • Understand changes in the market spaces and provide strategic recommendations to the executive staff on how to adapt. Be proactive in developing strategies.
  • Coordinate customer expectations with manufacturing
  • Assist the Operation & Engineering team(s) with critical customer feedback & communication as the voice of the customer.
  • Ability to travel when needed
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • Preferred Bachelor of Science in manufacturing or engineering preferred or a combination of both experience/ education.
  • Minium of 5 years of sales experience or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of the company’s products, competitive products, and the market - Preferred background in working industries such as defense, aerospace, medical, transportation, railway, etc.
  • Understanding of welding, machining, assembly, and other manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient in blueprint reading with G.D.T. experience. Must be able interpret a customer’s technical requirements and correctly align it to capabilities & value proposition.
  • Prefer ERP experience, knowledge of Epicor ERP Software is a plus.
  • Present evidence and outcomes of sales and marketing efforts to executive staff.
  • Strong accountability to follow up on potential sales opportunities and communicating the potential opportunities to leadership. Maintain live transactions in the customer resource management portal to ensure opportunities are tracked & closed while updating timing & relevant correspondence.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.

Individuals working in an office setting will not endure some of the physical & work environments conditions of the production floor unless office is adjacent to the production floor or per the individuals job duties and/ or responsibilities. All office personnel must abide by the PPE guidelines (safety glasses, safety-toed boots that are provided per the company policy guidelines) when entering the production floor or if a requirement of a department that individual is entering or working in.
