Job summary

Mid-Continent Engineering, LLC in Minneapolis, MN, is seeking a CNC Machine Programmer for the 1st shift (6 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday) to join our manufacturing team. You will analyze drawings, write setup instructions, and program CNC machines to precise parts for medical, aerospace and defense applications.

The ideal candidate has a technical machine degree and is proficient with Mastercam and Solidworks, GD&T, and Epicor is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Five years of CNC Horizontal Mill machining experience with 3-5 years programming experience.
  • Mastercam and Solidworks experience is a must for this position.
  • Advanced GD&T knowledge with the ability to apply to daily work routine.
  • Experience with Epicor is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze drawings, sketches, and design data of part to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools, and machine speeds and feed rates.
  • Write work instruction sheets, cutter lists to guide the setup, and operation of machine.
  • Determine reference points and direction of machine cutting paths
  • Compute angular and linear dimensions, radius, and curvatures/ outlines sequence of operations required to machine part.
  • Prepare geometric layout using computer-assisted drafting software to show location of reference points and direction of cutting paths.
  • Write program of machine instructions in symbolic language to encode numerical control tape or direct numerical control database to regulate movement of machine along cutting path.
  • Revise program to eliminate instruction errors or omissions and continuous improvement of the program to speed up the machine while maintaining accuracy/ precision.
  • Operation of machine on trial run to prove programmed instructions.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.
