Job Description

Ready to Help People Live Better, One Piece of Equipment at a Time?

About Us

The MedEquip Shop is one of Houston’s top-rated retail medical equipment providers. We specialize in helping individuals and families find high-quality home medical equipment in a comfortable, caring environment. Our customers trust us because we simplify the process, treat everyone like family, and back our service with knowledge and compassion.

The MedEquip Shop helps seniors, caregivers, and people recovering at home find the right home medical equipment and supplies to live more safely, comfortably, and independently.

We are looking for a caring, patient, and detail-oriented person to join our team as a Home Medical Equipment Specialist. This is a customer-facing retail role, but it is not ordinary retail. Our customers often need help choosing products such as rollators, wheelchairs, power mobility products, lift chairs, hospital beds, bathroom safety equipment, and other home medical supplies.

The ideal candidate may come from a background in patient care, caregiving, CNA work, home health, senior living, clinic administration, patient services, medical reception, pharmacy, specialty retail, or consultative sales.

Imagine being the bridge between a worried caregiver and the peace of mind that comes from finding exactly the right solution. That’s the kind of work we do every day—and we’re looking for someone who can do it with heart, hustle, and purpose.

What You'll Do

  • Assist walk-in customers in finding the best-fit medical products for their needs
  • Ask good questions to understand the customer’s situation, mobility needs, home setup, comfort concerns, and budget.
  • Educate customers on available equipment options, features, safety considerations, and proper use.
  • Demonstrate products such as rollators, wheelchairs, lift chairs, hospital beds, scooters, and other home medical equipment.
  • Prepare quotes, process orders, close sales, and coordinate delivery or installation when needed.
  • Manage point-of-sale and basic inventory activities
  • Develop new referrals by visiting local independent and assisted living communities 2-3 times per month
  • Follow up with past customers to ensure satisfaction and uncover additional needs
  • Help keep the showroom clean, organized, stocked, and easy for customers to navigate.

Who You Are

  • A natural ability to connect with people from all walks of life (especially older adults and caregivers).
  • A consultative salesperson - someone who listens before recommending
  • Ability to explain products clearly without overwhelming the customer.
  • A disciplined yet flexible approach to managing their daily sales tasks and outreach
  • A relationship builder with natural empathy, especially toward elderly customers and caregivers
  • An emotionally intelligent communication style that balances assertiveness with empathy.
  • A confident communicator with strong organizational habits
  • A proactive teammate with pride in execution and a passion for helping people

Helpful Backgrounds

  • CNA, caregiver, home health aide, or senior living
  • Patient service representative, medical receptionist, clinic admin, or medical assistant
  • Durable medical equipment, home medical equipment, pharmacy, or medical supplies
  • Specialty retail, furniture, mattress, mobility products, wellness, or consultative sales
  • 2+ years in retail sales or a customer-facing role (medical equipment experience preferred)
  • A valid driver's license and access to reliable local transportation
  • Comfort with POS and inventory systems (training provided)
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus

Important Note

This is not a clinical care position, and we do not diagnose medical conditions or replace the advice of a physician, therapist, or other licensed healthcare professional. Our role is to educate customers on product options, help them understand how equipment works, and guide them through a purchase that fits their needs.

Why This Role Matters

Many of our customers are making difficult decisions for themselves, a parent, a spouse, or another loved one. The right person for this role will combine compassion, product knowledge, and practical sales ability to help customers feel respected, informed, and confident.
