Job summary

Avocet Hospitality Group seeks a dynamic Catering Sales/Event Specialist for Tides Folly Beach, a premium beachfront hotel. This on-site role drives revenue through proactive catering sales, event proposals and upselling, while building strong client relationships for weddings, social and corporate events.

You will coordinate menus, timelines, staffing and BEOs, work with culinary, front desk and housekeeping teams, and ensure flawless event execution.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred
• 15 years of hotel catering, event planning, or sales experience preferred
• Exceptional hospitality and customer service skills
• Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
• Sales-minded with a natural ability to build relationships and identify opportunities
• Food and beverage knowledge including familiarity with food and wine service
• Proficiency with basic computer applications and Google Suite

Responsibilities

• Generate catering and event revenue through proactive sales and upselling
• Respond to leads, conduct property tours, prepare proposals, contracts and estimates
• Build relationships with wedding, social, corporate and group clients
• Coordinate event details including menus, room setups, timelines and staffing
• Create and maintain accurate BEOs and group resumes
• Partner with banquet culinary, front desk, housekeeping and other teams
• Be present at key events to oversee execution and address client needs
• Ensure food & beverage service meets our standards
• Handle guest concerns and perform service recovery
• Follow up after events to encourage repeat business
• Assist with banquet team training and staffing needs
• Maintain event calendars, menus, signage and client invoices/payments

What Youll Do

What Were Looking For

The Role

This is an on site position at Tides Folly Beach with a mix of office based planning and hands on event execution You should be comfortable being on your feet moving throughout the property assisting with event setups and handling the occasional challenge with a calm solutions focused approach If youre ready to combine sales hospitality and event execution in a beautiful beachfront setting
