Job summary

Goodwill of Greater Washington is seeking a friendly Retail Associate to join our store team. You will help customers, operate the cash register, stock shelves, and maintain a clean, welcoming environment.

We value excellent service, accurate cash handling, and the ability to stand for long periods. Prior retail experience is a plus; high school diploma preferred. We offer benefits and a collaborative team focused on community impact.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provides professional and courteous service to all customers inside the store, outside of the store, and on the phone.
• Assures merchandise is placed on the sales floor in a timely manner
• Rings items accurately on the register
• Demonstrates accurate cash handling and use of register
• Maintains knowledge of merchandise and answers customer questions promptly
• Keeps floor merchandise neat and assists customers with purchases
• Maintains clean professional appearance
• Maintains register area and store security practices
• Performs housekeeping duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping shelves
• Performs other duties as assigned by management

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides professional and courteous service to all customers inside the store, outside of the store, and on the phone.
• Assures merchandise is placed on the sales floor in a timely manner
• Able to ensure items are rung accurately on the register
• Demonstrates accurate cash handling skill to include but is not limited to making change, operate and maintain the cash register, check and charge card machine, and use of a calculator
• Maintains knowledge of merchandise and answers customer’s questions courteously and promptly
• Keeps floor merchandise neat and orderly (racks, shelves, bins, and hangers) and assists customers with purchase selections.
• Maintains clean professional appearance

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain an orderly and clean register area
• Maintain familiarity with store security procedures and exercise security practices when necessary
• Perform general housekeeping responsibilities to include: store upkeep duties as needed to include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping shelves, and dusting (including restrooms and dressing rooms)
• Perform other duties as assigned by management
