Job summary

Educational Service Center of the Western Reserve is seeking a Substitute Paraprofessional for the SAIL Program in the Willoughby-Eastlake area. The role involves assisting students with physical tasks, reinforcing classroom rules, and supporting teachers in the absence of the regular instructor.

Candidates must have an Ohio Educational Aide permit or meet one state requirement (ParaPro, degree or hours). Prior experience in special or vocational education is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must follow instructions and reinforce positive reinforcement.
• Good verbal and written skills desired.
• Be able to improvise in difficult and/or unusual situations and operate under stress.
• Be in good health, punctual, dependable and task oriented.

Responsibilities

• Assist assigned student with physical tasks (lift up to 50 pounds).
• Reinforce class rules when teacher is absent.
• Assist substitute teacher.
• Work with small groups to reinforce material introduced by the teacher.
• Reinforce behavior management techniques.
• Accompany students on trips to the office and/or school nurse.
• Serve as resource person to the student evaluation team.
