Qualifications

• Ohio requires a one-year Educational Aide permit.
• Applicants must pass the ParaPro Assessment Test.
• An Associate's Degree or higher or 48 sem/72 qtr hours is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Assist assigned student in physical tasks; must lift up to 50 lb.
• Reinforce class rules when the teacher is absent.
• Assist substitute teacher and listen to student recitations and readings.
• Work with small groups to reinforce material introduced by the teacher.
• Reinforce behavior management techniques and safety procedures.
• Accompany students on trips to the office or school nurse.
• Serve as a resource person for the student evaluation team.
• May involve changing, toileting, stander, feeding, etc., per needs.
