Job summary

Sunbelt Rentals is seeking an experienced Safety Trainer to conduct operator certification and safety training for customers and employees. You will publish class schedules, deliver private on-site sessions, and maintain training records with a focus on thoroughness and compliance.

The role requires heavy equipment knowledge, adult-learning skills, and the ability to travel up to 15%. A strong customer-service mindset and MS Office proficiency are essential; bilingual abilities are a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years of work experience in a related field
• Heavy equipment experience and certification (MEWP, Forklift, Earth Moving)
• Broad knowledge of industry safety standards, practices, and regulations
• Experience and knowledge of adult learning methods
• Dependable, organized, motivated, and self-starter
• Customer-service and ‘solutions’ oriented
• Ability and willingness to travel; overnight travel may be required (10%-15%)
• Proficiency in MS Office products, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Preferred bilingual in Spanish or French
• Preferred experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS)
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct equipment operator certification training and safety training for customers and employees
• Publish public training class schedules on a 3‑month rolling calendar
• Provide private classes at branch locations or customer sites
• Complete training records in Sunbelt’s systems
• Issue customer wallet cards within 24 hours of class completion
• Learn new adult training methods and courses
• Maintain current training and equipment operator certifications
• Provide Train the Trainer courses for customers
• Optimize productivity by maximizing class attendance and scheduling
• Sell and support the sales teams to close safety training opportunities
• Create flyers and sales materials with Marketing support
• Coach and mentor Certified Evaluators in districts
• Support equipment practical evaluations for customers
• Assist District and Regional Managers with onboarding and training of new staff
• Advise on safety issues and standards to employees and customers
