Pillar of Cedar Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking a dedicated CNA to join our caring team in Waterloo, IA. The role supports residents through observation, behavior management, and daily activities in a structured setting.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid CNA license in Iowa.
• Psychology / human services degree or a minimum of two years supervisory experience with the mentally ill, using behavior management strategies and techniques.
• Must possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify and document maladaptive behaviors through observation and records review.
• Develop, implement, and monitor PMI/mental illness programs to reduce maladaptive behaviors.
• Review, demonstrate, and instruct staff in the implementation of behavioral programs and intervention strategies.
• Assist with unit supervision in compliance with care center protocols.
• Provide services to create a safe and secure environment.
• Identify, deter, abate, or correct situations within your scope of responsibility.
• Provide continuous professional and therapeutic presence in the unit.
• Ensure client, visitor and staff safety.
• Adhere to safety, infection control and employee health policies and procedures.
• Assist with shower programs, ADL programs, toileting behaviors, and feeding programs.

Shift: 1st shift 7:00am-3:00pm and Every Other Weekend 7am-7pm

Job Description

• Identifies and documents maladaptive behavioral issues / concerns through observation of residents and review of individual records, in addition to the accumulation, summarization, and review of relevant data as necessary
• Develops, implements, and monitors PMI / mental illness programs to decrease maladaptive behaviors
• Reviews, demonstrates, and instructs appropriate team members in the implementation and documentation of established behavioral programs and intervention strategies
• Assists with the general supervision of the unit in compliance with protocols established by the care center
• Provide services that seek to create a safe and secure environment.
• Undertake activities designed to identify, deter, abate, or correct situations, both routine and emergent, that are within the scope of responsibility as they occur.
• Provide continuous professional and therapeutic presence in the unit.
• Ensure client, visitor and staff safety.
• Adhere to all safety, infection control and employee health policies and procedure
• Assist with shower programs, ADL programs, behaviors related to toileting, and feeding programs.
