Job description

Safety & Security Supervisor

Location: On-site - Cranbury, NJ

What You’ll Do

  1. Manage the implementation and adherence of all aspects of our Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (Occupational Safety/Health Program) for assigned location(s).
  2. Reduce the probability and severity of work related injuries and illnesses, while ensuring compliance and adding value to the overall operation.
  3. Anticipate, identify, evaluate hazardous conditions and build practices to aid in all critical incident planning, preparation and responses.
  4. Conduct inspections of facilities to identify and correct potential hazards, security risks, and to ensure regulatory compliance.
  5. Partner cross-functionally with all levels of site management in assigned location(s) to mitigate risk and resolve safety and security related issues.
  6. Develop action plans to improve safety/security culture in assigned location(s) and promote employee engagement in safety/security programs.
  7. Partner with operations and key stakeholders, to ensure all new hires receive safety orientation, and verify annual training requirements for existing employees.
  8. Assist in the development and implementation of safety/security accountability programs.
  9. Maintain effective working relationships with regulatory agencies, industry security and life safety professionals, vendors, and suppliers.
  10. Prepare and submit safety and security incident reports in compliance with company and insurance carrier requirements. Support any related investigations.
  11. Provide daily guidance to the third party guard service. Ensure guards are following documented post orders. Work to ensure there are no gaps in guard coverage.
  12. Conduct physical security, camera system and access control checks to ensure compliance.

What You’ll Need

  1. 2+ years in a dedicated Safety/Security role or similar experience required. Bachelor’s Degree not required but preferred.
  2. Lean Six-Sigma experience desired.
  3. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification, preferred.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements that govern worker health and safety, physical assessment and ergonomic skills, and case management skills.
  5. Knowledge of local, state and federal fire and safety regulations and laws.
  6. Demonstrated working knowledge of safety and security concepts, best practices, policies, programs, and procedures. Preferably in a retail distribution environment.
  7. Ability to handle multiple projects, set priorities, strong organizational and time management skills.
  8. Flexibility to support multiple buildings across multiple shifts that are dynamic and have changing business needs.
  9. Excellent analytical and organizational skills, and demonstrated experience with hypothesis-driven learning and turning data into actionable insights.
  10. Superior communication skills with the ability to navigate a complex organization and generate buy-in for ideas and plans.
  11. Entrepreneurial mindset, with a bias for action and ability to deal with extreme ambiguity and rapidly changing environments.
  12. Strong reputation for honesty, integrity, and professionalism, including an ability to maintain confidentiality.
  13. Must be able to stand and or walk in a variety of weather and terrain conditions for shifts up to 10 hours.
  14. Must be able to lift and hold 15 pounds.
  15. Be able to work effectively in warehouse environments with hot and cold conditions, as well as loud noises.
  16. Ability to travel within your assigned area of responsibility. Occasional overnight travel may be required as needed.
