Job description

Position Summary:

Supervises the day-to-day operations of the Safety & Security Department to ensure maximum safety for students, staff, property, and the community. Supports the Social Development Director and team in managing and supervising center operations across all shifts. Demonstrates commitment to preparing young people for the workforce by modeling and mentoring excellence in the eight Career Success Standards, including workplace relations, ethics, communication, multicultural awareness, personal growth, career and personal planning, interpersonal skills, and independent living.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Evaluate staff performance, provide training, and implement personnel changes approved by the Center Director.
2. Develop and monitor staff schedules for 24/7 coverage.
3. Create and maintain the Center Safety Plan, Emergency and Disaster Plan, and conduct annual risk assessments.
4. Establish and communicate safety, security, and fire prevention policies according to regulations.
5. Provide reports on department activities to management and relevant authorities.
6. Maintain departmental records and establish rules for campus access and conduct.
7. Conduct evacuation, fire, and active shooter drills as required.
8. Handle complaints, perform investigations, and prepare incident reports.
9. Oversee transportation services and vehicle maintenance.
10. Coordinate with law enforcement and ensure OSHA compliance.
11. Hire staff, manage inventory, participate in disciplinary processes, and attend training.
12. Promote a respectful, harassment-free environment and model professional skills.
13. Maintain accountability and safety in all responsibilities.
14. Assist with additional tasks as needed.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, police science, or related field.
• 3-5 years supervisory experience.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable record.

Additional Requirements:

Knowledge of security procedures, OSHA, CPR/First Aid certification, excellent communication skills, and ability to operate office equipment. Must foster effective teamwork and relationships within the facility.

Physical & Environmental Demands:

Requires sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and communication. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Work involves outdoor and indoor environments, including exposure to heat, cold, and noise, with physical and operational demands outlined accordingly.
